Naked Raku
Naked Raku is created by applying colored or white slip to pots before the initial bisque firing, creating a “canvas” for the next step. A sacrificial slip is applied for the final firing that will crack and allow carbon to create a beautiful and distinct black pattern. A design can also be drawn in the slip allowing the carbon to seep into the “picture”, as well as the crackle.
Naked Raku pieces are art and are not food safe or watertight.
