Horsehair

Horsehair pottery is created by laying real horse hair on a clay pot that has been heated to 1600° F.  The organic material leaves a unique carbon mark on the the pot surface. Sometimes other organic materials, such as feathers, are used. Additional colorant processes include applying ferric chloride, mica infused terra sigilata, and glazes.

Horsehair pieces are art and not food safe or watertight.
