Mica Infused

Mica Infused pottery has a thin layer of fine clay (terra sigillata), mica, and sometimes sodium silicate applied to the surface of a wet pot.  Mica is a mineral often used in cosmetics to add a colored, shimmery essence.  By also adding sodium silicate and applying it to the surface, a crackled surface is created and the beautiful mica colors become juxtaposed against the black, carbon infused clay.

Mica Infused pieces are art and are not food safe or watertight!
